Terms of Service

1. The Service

One Million Faces is a global social experiment where participants pay $1 to have their photo permanently displayed in a massive human collage. Upon payment and approval of your photo, you receive a unique face number ("You are Face #X") and a personal share card.

2. Eligibility

To participate, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher
• Have the legal right to submit the photo you upload (i.e., it must be a photo of yourself, and you must own or have rights to use it)
• Provide a valid email address
• Choose an alias that does not violate these Terms

By submitting your photo, you represent and warrant that all of the above are true. If you provide false information, you bear full legal responsibility for any resulting harm.

3. Photo Requirements

Your submitted photo must:

• Clearly show your face
• Be a photo of you — not a third party, celebrity, fictional character, or AI-generated image
• Not contain nudity, sexual content, violence, hate symbols, or any illegal content
• Not infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights

Photos that violate these requirements will be rejected. Repeated violations may result in your IP address being blocked.

4. Alias Requirements

Your alias must not:

• Contain offensive, hateful, discriminatory, or sexually explicit language
• Impersonate any real person, brand, or organization
• Contain spam, URLs, or promotional content

We reserve the right to reject or remove any alias that violates these requirements.

5. License You Grant Us

By submitting your photo, you grant One Million Faces a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to display, reproduce, and distribute your photo as part of the One Million Faces collage, including in promotional materials for the project. This license survives removal of your photo only for archival and historical documentation purposes.

6. Payment

The participation fee is $1 (USD). All payments are processed by Paddle.com, which acts as the Merchant of Record. By completing payment, you agree to Paddle's Terms of Service available at paddle.com/legal/paddle-customer-and-supplier-agreement.

7. Refund Policy

The $1 participation fee is non-refundable once your photo has been approved and published in the collage, as the service is considered fully rendered at that point. A refund may be requested within 24 hours of payment if your photo has not yet been approved. To request a refund, contact legal@addyourface.com.

8. Photo Moderation

All photos are subject to automated and manual moderation review. Submitting your photo does not guarantee it will appear in the collage. If your photo is rejected, you will be notified by email. Refunds for rejected photos are handled on a case-by-case basis.

9. Photo Removal (Takedown)

You may request removal of your photo at any time by emailing legal@addyourface.com. Upon your request:

• Your photo will be hidden from the collage immediately
• You have 7 days to cancel your removal request by replying to the same email
• After 7 days, your photo will be permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems

Photo removal does not entitle you to a refund, as the service (participation and display in the collage) has already been rendered.

10. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Submit photos of other people without their explicit consent
• Attempt to manipulate, hack, or exploit the Site or its systems
• Submit multiple photos under different email addresses to circumvent rules
• Use automated tools to interact with the Site

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, One Million Faces and Patricio Agurto shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid ($1).

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing any legal remedy.

13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
